Lorenzo’s Soul Food

Untitled

I stopped by Lorenzo’s one day for lunch on recommendation from a friend. She loved the place and said they have great food. Anytime I heard about great soul food I’m usually up for it. I stopped by around 1pm on a weekday and there were two other people eating there. At first I looked around and I didn’t see any menus lying around. I also didn’t see any at the front. After glancing around for a second I finally saw it written in chalk on the wall.

After looking at it I was a little disappointed they were out of neckbones. Soon after I glanced the wall over and made my choices a nice gentleman emerged from the kitchen and took my order. I ordered the fried pork chop with green beans, spaghetti, and corn bread. I was told he would bring it to me, and it would be a few minutes. I sat down and took a look around the place. There is the main seating area when you walk in, and there is also a larger area to the side with a television. It happened to be playing a French film featuring a younger Girard Depardieu. I found it slightly strange but not distracting. After 7 or 8 minutes he brought out my food.

As you can see it looked great. I promptly asked for hot sauce for my porkchop and pepper sauce for my green beans. Then I proceeded to dig in. Everything was great. The corn bread was….. awesome. I hadn’t had good corn bread like that in years. It had no sweetness to it which is how I prefer my cornbread. It was so good, in fact, that I stood up and told the guy how much I liked it. He seemed pleased yet not surprised. He knew.

I thoroughly enjoyed my meal there and the next time I’m in the vicinity for lunch I will definitely make sure to stop by and hopefully they will have neckbones!
