Flying Fish
Recently we were downtown on afternoon to see Super Why! at the Orpheum and we were looking for somewhere quick to eat. It wasn’t long since we had been to Kooky Canuck, but I did remember the Flying Fish. I’ve heard tons of great things about this place, and I’ve been wanting to check it out for a long while.
It wasn’t too crowded when we got there. We walked right up and placed our orders. They have some pretty interesting fishing inspired decor all around the place. It’s very unique to say the least. After no more than 5 minutes our buzzer went off and we got our food.
I got the fried oyster basket. It was awesome. The oysters tasted very fresh just like I like them. A little hot sauce and/or cocktail sauce and I was in heaven. It really took me no time at all to demolish my basket of food.

My wife got the catfish basket which also came with fries. She liked them although she did feel they were a little on the salty side. After sampling a bite (or two) I would have to agree with her…. though they did all get eaten.

My son got the kid’s fried shrimp and fries basket which came served in a cute little boat. He was quite amused and I think it made eating the shrimp a little more fun.

They have quite a large menu and really we made our choices rather quickly due to our time constraints. They also have oysters on the half shell (which I plan on ordering next time). They also have crab legs. It will most likely take me a few trips before I feel I get a good sampling of all they have to offer. Hopefully I can make it back really soon because I’m always ready to eat some great seafood.

How I love fried oysters! We’ll have to try this place.. I’m surprised we’ve missed it so far. Do they have fried oyster poboys?
Honestly don’t remember but Pearls on Main does.
