Saigon Le
As you can probably tell from my previous posts I’m a big fan of Vietnamese food. It happens to be one of my favorite cuisines in the world. They often use fresh ingredients and the dishes are very flavorful. A lot of their dishes are influenced by French cuisines. (Google the French rule of Vietnam if you are curious)
It’s been a while since I’ve been to Saigon Le and I wanted a current experience before I wrote about it. Recently my son and I met my wife for lunch. She happens to work very close to some very great places to eat. We agreed that we wanted Vietnamese food and she suggested Saigon Le because they were fast. The lunch crowd is very busy. We walked in and got the last booth available. We happened to be starved to we started off with some great spring rolls with fish sauce. The spring rolls are best when you wrap them in lettuce and dip it in the fish sauce. Don’t be afraid of the smell. Vietnamese fish sauce really does taste great. You won’t be sorry.
For lunch we ordered beef lo mein, shrimp fried rice, and I got Pho Ga. (Chicken Pho). I have had their pho before but I wanted a fresh perspective. Pho is my favorite soup anywhere and I could eat it every day.

The beef lo mein was outstanding. The sauce was nice and flavorful. The shrimp fried rice was also great. It had some nice plump shrimp.

My pho was great! I added lots of fresh vegetables that they always give you. I usually take the white plastic spoon they give you and full it half way with sriracha and halfway with hoisin sauce. Plenty of cilantro, green onion, some bean sprouts, and chiles and I’m set. After some careful consideration I think it’s almost as good as Pho Vietnam. Somehow I think their broth is still a lot better.

All in all we had an awesome lunch. We’ve been back several times since then. They do have a small dining area so if you hit them up during lunch try to make it early because they are packed every single day during the week. They are great people and their food is even better. Definitely one of my favorite places to eat in Memphis!

Do you cook much? I have this killer and SUPER easy pho-esque recipe. I used to make the five-hour-ordeal authentic stuff, but the quick and dirty version is so satisfactory!
Yeah I do! I would love to have that recipe! Thanks!
Hey Cheryl! You never did send me that recipe.
